When in doubt, buy it!
Most surfaces can be painted directly with chalk paint. However some of my paint surfaces were very slick and benefited from using this primer to make it stick better. I love the neutral sand color which looks exactly like the color twig. In fact, after I applied twig to it I couldn’t tell the difference except for it being a deeper pigmented color on the second coat. I wish I had used this block-it primer on some of the first pieces I painted to help with the wood tannins and nicotine stains that came through second hand furniture. It has a stronger smell than chalk paint but it is still pleasant and not overwhelming. Smells like alcohol based markers but the smell fades when it dries. I will be buying more of this product in the future for lasting finishes.
